You don’t need to expend horsepower forcing exhaust gases through a pinhole, and improved scavenging of those same gases means more mixture drawn into the cylinders for more power. It’s a win-win deal. The muffler is a chambered muffler, not a short-lived glasspack that will get much louder if it ever gets wet inside.
